What does it mean to apply pipe marking throughout your facility? Many pipes running through a facility may be holding a dangerous substance. By labeling these pipes with pipe markers they are visually communicating the direction of flow, the pipe contents, and any other valuable information.
Pipe markers provide people in the workplace an awareness of what containers and pipes carry, as well as potential hazards associated with the pipe contents. Pipe markers also help to improve productivity and safety. They help to ensure that the proper pipe lines are isolated for maintenance and the correct valves are closed.
According to the labeling standards of ANSI/ASME 13.1, products are to be consistent in the way they are tested as well as the definitions and terms used. The current version of the ANSI/ASME code uses a color scheme with six standard color combinations, and four user-defined combinations. The colors and label terms are determined by the contents of the pipe.
